The Onion hands us it's latest and greatest with Area Man Knows All The Shortcut Keys. For those of you that have to deal with me this probably sounds just like me.

Harry Potter jellybeans are so great. With flavors like earwax, vomit, boogers, and sardine you can't go wrong. Especially when you put them out and the whole box is gone when you come back. Oops I guess I forgot to leave the labels with them... :)
Are you a big Star Wars fan like any other self-respecting nerd? If so, you'll like this. You soon will be able to bid on a piece of the original Death Star used in filiming the movie. Yeah, how cool is that? Ok so it would be cool if I could afford it....
The U.S. government is looking to create a stock market to help determine when terrorists will strike in the Middle East. HOLD THE PHONE. We're going to create a stock market to predict terrorist attacks, ok right now I want to say this is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. The idea simply is that terrorists and people supposdly claiming they have knowledge will buy futures in say "Attack on Yasser Arafat August 14th", allowing the government to learn about attacks earlier and to weed out those that don't have valid information.

Will a terrorist buy stock in his own attack, probably not. Will he buy stock in a fake attack just to confuse the hell out of the United States? Yes. Will someone with information buy futures in an attack? No, they probably won't. Who wants to have their phone tapped when they call Pizza Hut? Also who wants to risk losing moeny if the attack doesn't happen. What I'm seeing is that people that have money to waste are going to buy into this horrible idea. A fool and his money are soon parted, thankfully

I suppose according to Bush and his right-wing buddies I'm not a patriot by criticizing this plan, but frankly I think the opposite. Bush is selling out the country to gain control of the Iraqi oil. Now not only can we not find Bin Laden but we're also without Hussein. The deck of cards idea worked brilliantly, that's if the plan was to create lots of useless spam.

The administration of the United States is completely off target. Not only have we failed in the Middle East in my honest opinion, but we're also splitting up countless families back here by sending people off for long stays in Iraq.

Democrat or Republican? Try Nader.

Reform is in order.

It's time for the news from the technology front. The Inquirer today tells us that if the RIAA keeps up it's current pace of lawsuits (871 subpeonas so far) it will take them 2191.78 years to sue every file-trader. Better hope they don't come up with something that allows people to live forever, because you'll be living forever flat broke after paying 250,000 dollars a song. Or are you broke already?

Brewer great (announcer that is) Bob Uecker was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. Being that he's only the greatest announcer in baseball here are some hilarious excerpts from his speech. Enjoy.

Ok so it's finally a day later and here I am. The Shedd Aquarium has lost all respect I possibly could have given it. They lost the reservations of all the groups that were supposed to attend the day I went and did not refund even some of the money to any of the groups. The large group of kids I was there with didn't have the cafeteria reserved like they were supposed to. Nor did we have a spot to sit at the Dolphin show. Actually, we didn't even get wristbands or anything of that nature. They claimed to have an "extra" 3,000 people there on Friday, well if they had an extra 3,000 it must dead empty on the other days. Needless to say I was not impressed. If you're really into fish you probably would like it, otherwise I can't go out of my way to recommend you visit it. I also would like to ask what is going on with the Chicago Bears stadium Soldier Field, after a year of construction the thing looks like an unpleasant mesh of 80's glass building design and the classic Soldier Field, Greek, look.

I forgot to mention that I won a Navy frisbee in the raffle at Epicenter yesterday. It's pretty cool, as frisbee is a great game not requiring any great athletic skill.

I must get going now, cheese dogs and Mountain Dew want me.

So I'm sitting here at the Epicenter LAN Party today. I've drank plenty of Mountain Dew, which ensures that I've visited the bathroom plenty too. Giggles of Doom one of my partners in crime with the Network of Gamers LAN party just left, so I'm left here all alone with all kinds of other scary nerd like people, then again they probably think the same of me. I'm the freaky guy in the orange sandals. I have a review of the Shedd Aquarium that I'll do for you fine people when I get home. I'm going to head out of Madison now and head back to my humble home in Janesville.
LAN party today. Wahoo!

Thursday, July 24, 2003

They were mentioned on Slashdot a while back, now they return to be mentioned again. Flash mobs the latest and greatest craze in something pointless. Does anyone have an interest in setting one of these up in the Janesville area? Or is there one in Madison or Milwaukee? I'm interested, if anyone knows anything, let me in on your secrets.
I'm getting better at communicating with the kids that only speak Spanish at the club. Some of the staff members speak a little Spanish, so that helps when I really need to communicate with them. Otherwise we use hand gestures and I point and make them repeat after me. Luckily they are obsessed with Cartoon Network and computer translates directly to computer in Spanish, if not for those two factors I would be SOL.
Not a whole lot to report on today. I would recommend you all not see the movie "How To Deal", it was pretty awfully done. When a stock character of a grandma on pot is the highlight you know you have a winner on your hands.

Eric Schooff won a writing contest, because he's awesome like that. The prize.... a Little Critter book. Way to go Eric, take home the big bucks.

I'm supposed to be cleaning up this room right now because my mom is having a Longaberger party here tomorrow. As you can assume I'm working really hard to clean it up...

Taco Bell is awesome, because Alison got a free drink without even asking tonight.

A new Dashboard Confessional album is due out August 12th. If you're cool like me, you'll be counting down the days. Don't let me down now. The CD is titled "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar" and by the sound of the first single "Hands Down" it appears to be another awesome album. This album follows the break out "The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most".
With a Mountain Dew in hand I'm ready to embark on another posting adventure. I figure it's midnight, heck, let's post now!

For those of with any knowledge of my LAN party, you know that a big perk of coming is unilmited Mountain Dew. Green, red, and orange, whatever you want, you get it. Nice and cold. Well I just got done hopefully taking that to the next level. I just emailed the nice people at Pepsi (they make Mountain Dew) and begged them for a sponsorship. I'll keep you guys posted on what comes of it. I'm being optimistic right now and hoping they'll toss something nice in the pot.

Alison and I did a massive section of the bike trail today. Taking another 187 pictures (the max the camera can hold with the 64mb stick in it). I would give you more details of our exact location, but we're over on the west side of town now and I don't know all of the streets. We have 1371 pictures of the trail so far. Only double our projected amout...

Well it's a good hour later and I've been distracted a million times. I think it's time for me to call it a night. Cheese dog for breakfast tomorrow. score.

Tuesday, July 22, 2003

I realized why these posts haven't been as interesting lately, I haven't ranted and raved about Mountain Dew and Taco Bell. Here's my chance to make up. Today I've had at least 12 oz. of every color of Mountain Dew. That's at least a can, for those of you I just confused. I think I had another can or two of the original flavor. I almost had Taco Bell today and I would have loved it, but I was too full from my cheese dog I had at breakfast. That's right I eat hot dogs and drink Mountain Dew at 8 A.M., something has to wake me up.

After work today I hung out with Alison. She took this cool picture of a highway, which looks much better smaller. And I took this picture at the LAN party. You've never seen such a cool can pyramid have you?

Welcome.
Today was my first day with Alison in over a week as she was on a cruise. We returned to our "normal" lives by photographing more of the bike trail together. We also attended youth group this evening which led to Frostie Freeze and then to Chris Horton's backyard where we had a little fire. Along with this fire we had watermelon, which Joe Fulton and Chris smashed with a sledgehammer, and then proceeded to dig in and eat. Mind you, this was after Joe had already punched his fist through a watermelon at youth group, he's an interesting guy (but that's why I like him).

So it's a full day after the LAN party and I still have been too lazy to set my dual LCD, 2ghz, 1 gig of ram, blah, blah, blah computer back up again. Instead I've opted to just lay my laptop on the empty desk and to use my wireless network. It's been a cool temporary change. I probably should motivate myself to plug it all back in tomorrow though, bummer.

If anyone knows of a game to put up on the games page please leave a comment in that barnd new comment thinger I made that should be right below these very words.

Yet another very late post, then again for the summer that's the norm. I want to thank all of those who attended the Network of Gamers LAN Party. The event was a large success due a great deal to the leadership people took. Those of you that weren't there, I want to see you at the next one. For those of you that are really big into LAN parties, check out the Epicenter LAN in Madison, WI. The next event of theirs is the 26th.

Aside from the guy with the half ton of explosives found here in my humble town of Janesville, WI there hasn't been anything newsworthy to share.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend kid-o's.

FREE MONEY!
Microsoft being the "kind and generous" people that they are have decided to give away money to people logged into their MSN Messenger service. More details.
Today was a rather bland day. I spent the evening doing homework (yes, in the summer) for AP U.S. History next year. Sixteen page papers over the summer should be illegal.

On a cool note you can now comment on everything I say on here with use of the little blue text below this post. It should say something like "0 comments l add yours" and you can go ahead and click there. From there a window will pop-up and you can fill in as much of that stuff as you want to and then comment away. I'm asking you please to keep the language clean, but please complain away.

Hey, I just finished a new song and I think it's time you listen to it. I promise it's worse than every single song I've ever made before this. Well maybe not all of them but really close. Download now.
Today was quite the day. It started with going to work and running our first MusicTech class at the club, which went over very well. After I got home Joe Fulton gave me a jingle on the twisted pair and asked if I wanted to go to Hooters in Madison with 15 other people (of whom were some cool folks like Amanda Rudkin, Boris Schmoldt, Chris Horton, Sbob, Ed, and Christina Riggs). Upon arrival I had a cheeseburger and during the trivia game was proudly able to remember who Queen Elizabeth the 1st had beheaded (Mary Queen of Scots), unfortunately my team didn't believe me. We got that question wrong because they had to guess "Galileo".

Beyond that today (now yesterday) Laura Magee informed me that whenever she talks to me she gets a large craving Taco Bell. I thought of that as a rather unusual affect to have on people. I wonder if she wants Mountain Dew with those tacos....

Kevin and Eric Schmoldt were over tonight after the Madison gang had left my house and we played some classic James Bond: Goldeneye. Garrick was our fourth player in this madness. We played with every weapon you can use and it was just great, for ten minutes.

Despite what Chris says I did win the second and final race, which he dropped out of. His car floated in the air the whole time (glitch in the game), technically allowing me to beat him. Garrick decided to ram people the whole race, easily allowing me to take first over the remaining 30 A.I. cars. It may be a cheap win, but it's only win, so I must be proud.
It’s live! Welcome to the latest and greatest edition of BobtheKing Dot Com. I’m scrambling to make sure everything works and get more gear up in the gear section but judging by the time, that’s going to have to wait until tomorrow though.

Tomorrow I also hopefully will add a feature that shows you the past 10 songs that have played in my Winamp playlist. I don’t really expect you to care, just thought it had some sexy nerd appeal. Then again knowing some of you, you do care. Either way I won’t fall short of mentioning of how I beat Garrick (my brother) and Chris Burrow in Nascar Heat online tonight.

This is going to be all for tonight as I’ve spent a couple hours scrambling to get this bad boy up.

Hello and welcome, feel free to come inside. I'd like to welcome you all to the newest BobtheKing Dot Com layout and hopefully to something a lot better than ever before. This new layout is designed to unclutter the look and feel of what was the previous layout. Like I mentioned in previous posts, I'm now using the assistance of Blogger to update this site. The bike trail project is coming along very nice, as we now have over 1,000 pictures and up to the Monterey Dam on the Rock River photographed. Stay tuned for more daily updates again.

Hey there, welcome to the first post using blogger.
