Windows XP Service Pack 2
I'm already uninstalling Windows XP Service Pack 2 after having it installed for less than one day. Having thought it had no conflicts with any of my applications I installed it on my computer mid-day yesterday. This morning I realized that it's already made my computer restart randomly twice and is making my computer overall run like it's half the speed it really is. The removal wizard looks like it is working fairly well right now, so that is a plus. I just don't think this bad boy was tested enough before it was released, even if it took months to release it. Has anyone else had problems or success with it?

I had my BF:V freeze every time I tried to browse servers, and it's somewhat annoying to have about twice as many processes runnning in the background.

It probably crashed because the firewall was blocking your server search request.

From what Scott has told me, Service Pack 2 is great if you reinstall Windows. Otherwise you should wait to get it. IE is supposedly much better, and the security is greatly improved. I haven't tried and won't until I reformat, then I might.

Yep, that would be why.

I installed it and immediately I started having problems like really slow response and it made my Symantec not work properly and didn't allow me to reinstall it. I turned the machine off thinking that might straighten out whatever was the problem and was never able to access that hard drive again. I called Dell (as it is under warranty with them) and they had me reinstall Windows and said the Service Pak 2 was the reason for the vast majority of their calls, including the hard drive crashes. Sometimes it doesn't happen until someone plugs in something like a HP printer and then everything crashes. They suggested not installing it until MS works out the bugs. Then, I found out about Drivesavers and called them to see if they could retrieve anything off my hard drive at that point, and they also said that the Service Pak 2 was the reason for most of their calls as well.
