I'm giving AudioScrobbler a try on my work computer. I'll probably be either hating it or loving it in a few days, so I'll let you know then how I feel. Right now the program seems pretty cool.

For the first time in a few years a truly huge event is about to occur. Nothing of this magnitude has happened for years and probably won't happen for years after. For those of you who are just dying to know what this gigantic event is, well I'm changing my home page. That's right, my home page. My very personal home page that has been Slashdot.org for over 3 years now. You ask "why Jeramey, what's wrong with Slashdot?" Well my friends fear not nothing is wrong with Slashdot, just I can get Slashdot plus more with BlogLines. BlogLines allows me to see all the latest Slashdot posts (and tells me how many new articles there are) plus every other news source or blog I could possibly handle. Now that you're all over your huge shock, Gary Wolf a Wired has wrote an article about RSS feeds and their relevance in regards to previous news distribution attempts. Overall, RSS rules and you all should be using it.
I can tell the economy is getting back on track because the size of my monthly Wired magazine is growing. After 2001 the magazine just plummeted in total page count, but for the past few months it's been growing in total pages. I would safely have to say that it has returned to a pre-bust size, perhaps a sign of more venture capital slipping into the signs of technologists.

Cinncinati is bracing itself once again to get ready for a masive Cicada invasion from underneath. Apparently in 1987 (I was six months old at the time so I have no memory) they had a large invasion of cicadas that had been underground growing for 17 years. Well it's been 17 years again and the cicadas are ready to come out in full force, all 5 billion of them. That 5 billion is an accurate number says Dr. Gene Kritsky, professor of biology at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Here's a good story to learn more.

Get all the information you could possibly want about your small village from City Data. Pretty neat site for anyone with a report to do on a town or region.
In honor of Sean Dulin who is completely opposed to the showing of coffins during a war. Thanks to David Moe for the find.

I do feel we need to respect the privacy of individuals by not showing their dead body attached with their name, however a nameless coffin is not invading anyone's privacy. My primary concern is that while everynight on television we're bombarbed with the positive images coming back from Iraq, however we fail to truly grasp the number of deaths we're taking on. The censorship of the coffin images is a slap in the face of the American people, if you're going to censor one thing just censor the whole war (and yes I'm sure they already do, but for intelligence purposes). I feel it is the right of the American people to have access to non-classified images regarding the war. Showing a coffin with a flag over it is not invading on anyone's privacy and has no need to be restricted other than the political agendas of those in charge (Bush and the gang). It's amazing to note how hearing "300 dead" and an image of 300 coffins lined up is incredibly different.

Scott Adams strays from his typical path with Dilbert and decides to take on music piracy. This situation obviously would never happen but it's interesting to consider. Of course logically it's impossible as someone would have had to buy it for it to go up on the p2p programs. Programs/services like iTunes seek to cure this problem, but my question is if all sales were done via a service like that how much would the record company make and how much would the artist (both against current earnings). Personally if music were to cost less because the record industry was taking less I would be more inclined to buy more music. 99 cents a song of which the artist is receiving a rumored 15 cents seems like robbery to me. On with the cartoon!

The list of college junk mail I have received is getting pretty insane. The current winner is Washington University in St. Lous. I can accept the high level from Milwaukee School of Engineering because I've requested information from them, however none of the other schools have I ever asked to receive information from.
Have you happened to notice something missing from the war in Iraq? Oh yeah, like the crying parents with their dead sons and daughters. It appears President Bush and friends have taken a great step to cover this information up, however this is one thing the people have a right to see. Here's a post from the Democrat and Liberal WatchBlog...
As part of their campaign to keep Americans behind their invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration had continued a post-Vietnam policy of preventing press from covering the ceremonies at Dover AFB when the bodies of fallen soldiers returned to U.S. soil. Without the casket draped in an American flag--holding somebody's son, daughter, husband, wife, father, mother, etc.--the numbers of war dead became empty statistics. One might be able to imagine 600 people, but it's different to see a box containing one in front of you.
Using the Freedom of Information Act, Russ Kick of the MemoryHole.org forced the release of photographs of the ceremonies held at Dover AFB. The Air Force initially refused, but he appealled. On his website, he posted over 350 photos. Of course, this didn't please the Pentagon any! The Dept. of Defense claims that the policy is to protect the privacy of soldiers' families. However, at least some want the scenes to be seen by America. "We need to stop hiding the deaths of our young; we need to be open about their deaths," said Jane Bright, whose 24-year-old son, Evan Ashcraft, was killed in combat.
We're used to getting the run-around on the financial cost of war and rebuilding Iraq. But the Bush administration at least owes it to us Americans to let us see the true cost in terms of young lives lost.

I've found one neat feature in Gmail to be that your inbox only shows one message and then compiles all the replies into that message. It prevents clutter very easily and allows for a lot easier reading for the email when you look at the actual message. Every reply is in a different color box that you can collapse with the click of a button. It's all so easy.
Here's some facts on farting for you.

I've blogged about it before but now I'd like to announce that I'm officially part of the Gmail beta test from Google. You can send me an email at jeramey@gmail.com. I'll let you know how it goes in a few days.
This is how I feel when people offer me food that doesn't include meat. It isn't a meal if there isn't a dead animal on the plate.
With that in mind I must propose a new mathmatical proof, MEAL = MEAT.

Lawerence Lessig has his book Free Culture available online for free download. It's available under the Creative Commons license, something Lessig himself played a large roll in creating. This website also is licensed under a Creative Commons license. If you're producing content I'd seriously recommend taking a look at the Creative Commons licenses available to you.

Selling the Candidates analyzes the difference between the marketing of George Bush and John Kerry. I found the post relatively interesting and worthy of reading, if you find you enjoy that kind of thing you should check out the rest of Democrafts & Lilberals: Critique the Message, Not the Messenger Archives.

I'm about to coin a new phobia. It's the fear of walking into the bathroom of the opposite sex while in public and in that half-sleeping trance you get when you're tired. Any ideas on a name?

Dilbert sure is good stuff. If you enjoy it enough you can be cool like me and get it emailed to you everyday or subscribe to it via a newsfeed application.
What exactly are we trying to accomplish in Iraq right now? I've reached a state of confusion in the past few days over what exactly is going on over there. We got rid of Saddam, we're rounding up the other "bad guys", and now what is the goal? I'm sure I'm about to labeled one of those communist unpatriotic insensitive clods now, but that's just something I'll have to deal with for asking a question about the war. Of course I don't feel that's true at all, nor do I feel that it's fair to label anyone who doesn't support the war as un-patriotic or a communist or whatever term they're labeling them now-a-days. So yes, someone with insight please fill me in.

I've become a big fan of the BlogLines news feed service to manage my blog reading. After having to check countless websites throughout the day at many different computers (at last count I use 5 different computers for at least an hour everyday), I've come to realize one service to manage all of them would be ideal. Well a stand-alone application that resides on the hard drive wouldn't work because of my computer switching, a web-based one would. BlogLines provides me with just that, it tells me which of my blogs have new postings and just how many postings they have. I also have the ability to save an individual post to a folder on their site. The recommendation service is pretty cool, if you like blog x you may also be interested in blog y about topic z. I've found numerous new blogs using that service. I'm now able to consume a ton of information very fast, as opposed to wasting my time searching to see who had new posts. You can even subscribe to BobtheKing on BlogLines using this RSS Feed (that also works for any other newsfeed programs). Overall I have to recommend BlogLines to anyone who reads over two blogs. If you don't read over two blogs, what is wrong with you? Enjoy BlogLines.
The latest Penny Arcade cartoon is good stuff. Check it out.
In my world it's always Friday. Try that in yours, it'll make your school days so much enjoyable and make work fun again. I suggest some Todd Rundgren - Bang My Drum to go with that too.

Burrow and I are collecting DewU points in order to get a fridge for the LAN party, so for anyone that is interested we'll pay out a penny per point. The reason we ask is because you have no chance of getting a fridge on your own, however with the powers that be in Fez and I we can team together to get the fridge. With the fridge we'll be able to keep even more Dew nice and cold for you at the LAN party.

So it struck me today that people are really stupid, not that I hadn't realized that before, but here we go. Story time. Evil Spencer was asked out by Parker scary YMCA lifeguard while he was online in the club cleaning the building. He had to remind her (not the first time) that he is almost ten years older than her. He noted how he's graduating from college, while she's still in high school. Parker scary YMCA lifeguard said it didn't matter to her, forcing Evil Spencer to remind her that it does matter. Parker scary YMCA lifeguard is sure one weird person, with all her weird lifeguarding antics and all. If you come in contact with Parker scary YMCA lifeguard please avoid her like the plague. People are stupid.
I was going to write a song about how much I love the Pizza Oven, then I reminded myself by telling myself things about myself like "self you have no musical talent". That quickly put a nail in that coffin and so here I am telling you I love the Pizza Oven. It's good stuff.

I'm getting ready to pass a new scientific law that states, "When at work music will always increase incremently in volume over the course of the day."
Now to tackle the four ounce package of apple sauce in front of me.

Oh the potential to post so many things and now I can't remember any of them. I've been hard at work the past few nights developing some MySQL and PHP skills so that I can create this new database of my basketball card collection, I should have something to show in the next few days. Enjoy your Mountain Dew while you can, spring break will be over soon.

Hi! I'm Adobe Acrobat Reader. I'm going to make really bad software that crashes your web browser everytime you attempt to close me. I'm also going eat all your system resources for breakfast and then tell you about how you have to update your software. To further that, I'm going to tell you about how great I am every chance I get.
Well the world appears to have made it through Daylight Savings Time just fine, oh wait. I take that back. Charter Communications managed to blow it today and was having nationwide trouble with their cable modem network. The issue appears to have affected random users, thankfully I only had to hear about it from other people. Congratulations to be a cable monopoly well-done by Charter. Cheers to the ten dollar increase on the cable bill due to a random rate hike.

Countdown to Daylight Savings Time. About 15 minutes away right now.
For those of you who don't know Daylight Savings Time was invented by Benjamin Franklin, while he was in Paris meeting with other friends who were inventors. Daylight Savings Time helps the world by shaving energy usage by about 3 percent due to the extra sunlight leading to less need for artificial light.
