For more, see your physics books. They used to have a picture of a bullet going through an apple. It's pretty sweet.

The pictures he's referring to in most physics and high speed photography books are the works of Harold "Doc" Edgerton from MIT, aka the father of the modern electronic strobe (flash photography). He's the inspiration for all of the work I did in my photos.
