SMS.ac Scam
Wanted to pass along news of this scam, a little consumer protection. Rather than retype it all or force you to click on a link I'm going to repost part of a post by Russell Beattie, hopefully that's okay with him. Check out his site though, his feed is one of the first feeds I turn to daily in my RSS reader and I'm not even a mobile phone addict like him.
Wow, I'm sorry I didn't mention this before online!
I got billed for $25 on my carrier bill from this service a while ago after signing up then getting all this SMS spam constantly for days. I finally went in and shut all the stuff off within a week or so, but at the end of the month it turns out that all those messages were Premium SMS messages!...
Rest of the post (worth the read).

Hi,
We all received theses bloody SMS.AC spams. I am offering simple solutions to fight back: Someone is actually sending them on SMS.AC's behalf and another comapny is hosting their website.
1. Blacklist sms.ac spam servers:
Go to spamcop.net and report all mail sent by "your friends" as spam using sms.ac (Very quick once you’ve created you’re account). This will not hurt your friends only the server that sends the email that is rented by sms.ac. Future emails from theses servers will be blocked. (SMS.ac tend to have this problem often and change the company that sends their emails) Let's make them change even more often!
2. Write to the company that hosts the sms.ac website:
I wrote to this company and asked them to stop doing business with sms.ac. They never answered. I would recommend you guys to do the same! They might make a move then. Also let everybody know that this company is working with sms.ac (Bad publicity!).
Hosting company:
Cardi.net
8913 Complex Drive
San Diego, CA 92123
Toll Free : 888.221.5902
To send them an email go to the following page

Cheers, good luck in cooping with these terrible emails. Let’s get back to sms.ac!

Yes, SMS.ac is a very bad company. Everybody should avoid it.
90% of their income come from their spam practice (so-called "Friend Resend" service).
Please tell everybody to stay away from this company. It's a real shame on the nice San Diego.

I worked at this company and they send out fake messages to users. Every day 3 employees are designated to send out 24 messages each to the biggest user groups - resulting in these users getting charged for those messages.
If anyone is considering a lawsuit against SMS.AC I will take oath and repeat what I just told you.
