A Del.icio.us Study
Ericka Menchen has done an interesting pilot study of 70 Del.icio.us users breaking down things such as user gender, linking habits, how frequently they link, and how often they think about the effect of their tags. As a Del.icio.us user (my account) and big proponent of the service it's interesting to see these numbers, unfortunately the study group was a little too small (Ericka is quick to mention that). Great data to start with, I look forward to a more thorough study.
For those of you that don't know, Del.icio.us (read Delicious) is a social bookmarking service. You can see the links others have collected, as well as seeing who else has bookmarked the same site as you. It's also a great way to store your bookmarks online so you can use them from any computer. Learn more.
Del.icio.us works real similar to the tagging system of Flickr, another great example of a folksonomy. Click on the tag at the bottom of the post to see how Flickr and Del.icio.us tags can be used together.
