WI .NET User Group Event Review

Few comical things happened tonight. First off, Google Maps would not give me correct directions to the Microsoft office in Waukesha, almost wonder if it's a preprogrammed glitch. Second, I managed to get lost in Waukesha tonight on my way there (it's about an hour drive). I wanted to take a different route using I-43 instead of I-94, didn't quite work out how I had planned. It was one of those routes that was much easier to figure out when you had the map in front of you, not when you think you're tough and leave the map at home. Third, I managed to draw my own name to win an ASP. NET book, thanks to whoever donated that to the event (Microsoft, I believe). All in all, there was something I could laugh about at least every 15 minutes, which makes my life much more enjoyable.

Jacob Cynamon's presentation on Performance Tuning in .NET was great, it was at a level I could really understand and he was by far one of the most well prepared speakers I've ever seen. There was no messing around to see if he could remember the lines of code to make his project work, he had it all there and prepackaged. I much prefer that style as it leads to shorter presentations and keeps the speakers concentration on the topic, instead of going "what is wrong with my code?". If you're in the Milwaukee area and interested in .NET or other Microsoft technologies, you should definitely consider attending an event.
