Oil-for-Food and Illegal Kickbacks
Talk about corruption check this out. I can't wait to see who is on the list of the 2,000 companies that were involved in the illegal kickback programs. That Saddam Hussein, he sure was a clever, sneaky guy.
Perhaps the most important thing though is not the kickbacks. This however is my favorite part, "The smuggling of Iraqi oil outside the program in violation of U.N. sanctions poured much more money -- $11 billion -- into Saddam's coffers during the same period, according to a finding in the new report.". $1.8 billion in kickbacks seems like a much smaller failure for the UN, when you're talking about missing a $11 billion in oil that went out of the country. Not that it's easy to watch barrels of oil, but he was under the spotlight for how many years and we still missed this much oil? Oops.
