China and VoIP

One of the problems of doing business in China is the immense government control. Here's an example, China has made VoIP illegal until 2008 at the earliest. This makes service like SkypeOut illegal in China, while it appears they have no concern about computer-to-computer calls. It appears to be an economic issue for China, they're trying to protect the state owned telecom business for brand new competetion. ArsTechnica has the story.
