Has Jesse Jackson Lost His Mind?
Has Jesse Jackson lost his mind? The civil liberties activist appears to have reversed his stance on civil rights. Jackson recently, following the incident where a harmless, needless-syringe was thrown at Barry Bonds, has called for better security for Barry Bonds. However, Jackson will certainly soon be hooting-and-hollering about the cruel inspections fans are given when they enter baseball stadiums, a violation of their rights.
The only way, that I can think of, to increase security at the ballpark in terms of incidents like this would be to search every fan at the door with a metal detector and pat-down of their body. That would certainly be a pain for fans in attendance at games, myself included. Security, I think, is fine at games already. Sure, someone could probably sneak a gun into a game, but they don't. Just like they don't shoot Barry Bonds at his house.
Judging by the fact that there was not a needle in the syringe, the fan cleary didn't mean to hurt Barry Bonds. Is it offensive that he threw it at him in the first place? Yeah, I guess, but Barry Bonds has not done anything to really calm the hurricane that surrounds him. The tosser should probably be arrested, just like someone that would throw a beer at a player should arrested. But it's not any case of attempted murder.
Jesse Jackson does not need to worry, the only person that can hurt Barry Bonds is Barry Bonds himself. It doesn't appear that anyone else wants to get close to him.
