Wal-Mart Attempting To "Go Green"

Wal-Mart has committed to improving the efficiency of a large number of their processes ranging from shipping to lighting their stores to packaging products.
In a speech broadcast to all of Wal-Mart's facilities last November, Scott set several ambitious goals: Increase the efficiency of its vehicle fleet by 25% over the next three years, and double efficiency in ten years. Eliminate 30% of the energy used in stores. Reduce solid waste from U.S. stores by 25% in three years.
Wal-Mart is committing $500 million up-front to achieve these goals, not exactly a small chunk of change.

The interesting thing about these environmentally-friendly reductions is that not only are they going to help the environment, but they're going to save Wal-Mart money. Now let's see some results!

Fortune has a feature-length story on everything about this.
