Whole Foods and Brats

Whole Foods Market

On the same line, Whole Foods has a restaurant/bar in Milwaukee. They sell brats, but they're $5.00. That's an absurd amount of money for a brat. Tad and I went today with the intention of getting one, but upon finding the price out, we left. Once we're 21 we'll probably go back, you can get beer and walk around the store grocery shopping. You really can't beat that.

Sadly, chemicals cost less than natural ingredients. We've got more labs and factories than farmland, and food manufacturing for the last 50 years has been about making it "cheaper" not "better" so we end up with things like hydrogenated oils which can add a "buttery flavor" to things without using butter.

Since organic foods are still in the minority, they often cost more to make, and distribute. Typically natural and organic food companies are smaller and don't have the distribution power of larger companies.

Natural and organic foods taste better, and are better for you. I know $5 seems like a lot for a brat, but what if it was the best brat you ever tasted? Sometimes you do pay a premium for quality. Isn't that why we all use Macs? ;)
