University Club Tower

University Club Tower

It seems incredidly short-sighted and stupid to be building a brand new building in downtown Milwaukee (University Club Tower), right along Lake Michigan, that features a lead-coated copper top. Not only will the lead eventually run off into the ground surrounding the building, but I would venture a guess that it will end up in Lake Michigan.

I don't really fully understand why lead is used in the first place. My guess is that it's used on the building to prevent the copper from turning green, but why not just use a different metal for the roof?

Can someone explain this to me?

Is it just me, or does the University Club Tower look like a high rise jail? (especially from the west) And that the building next to it looks like a Minneapolis housing project?

I don't think I can agree with you on either account. Why do you think it looks like a housing project?

It's the window treatments. Everyone in the building has different colored drapes, pulled to different heights, and it looks like crap. :(
