Megabus's Excellent Customer Service
Anyone who has ever talked to me about any city other than Milwaukee knows I'm the biggest hype man for Megabus on the planet.
I'm a tireless promoter of their service for its low-cost and ease of use, but they have another great aspect I've been learning about.
Their customer service is awesome.
Ran out of Chicago, not only is there not a language barrier in play, but the agents can relate to your struggles since they're located in the center of Megabus's midwest bus network. The fact that they're in the same time zone as you seems to go a long way to making them more willing to work with you.
On two occasions now I've had problems changing reservation. Something has gone wrong with their online system even though I'm playing by their 24 hours in advance rule. Each time I've picked up the phone and called them, waited 8 minutes at the most on hold, and had a customer service agent that was willing to fix my issue, no questions asked.
Their agents are empowered to go forward and issue new tickets, which is a lot more than I can say for some airline companies. Waiving the one dollar change reservation each time, the agents just give me a new reservation and email it straight to me before they get off the phone with me.
Megabus could easily screw their customers, especially since they're offering such budget fairs, but instead they provide excellent support.
