O'Hare Outlet Solution

O'Hare International

Steven Levitt, author of Freakonomics, has pointed out an interesting and brilliant transition underway at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.

Levitt noticed, like the rest of America, that pay phones go largely untouched, especially at airports. While most of them get ripped out on the street when they break and become nothing more than an empty box for graffiti, O'Hare has taken a unique strategy to kill two birds with one stone.

The removal of pay phones at O'Hare is followed by a counter lined with public electrical outlets. Anyone that uses a laptop, PDA, or cellphone when they're in an airport knows how valuable this is to customers.

When will the rest of the airports begin to follow suit?
